Personal information

Dr. Bruce McIntosh earned a bachelor's of science in biomedical engineering at the University of Michigan. After which, he attended Wayne State University School of Medicine where he received his Doctorate of Medicine, graduating with honors in 1989. Dr. McIntosh completed his General Surgical residency at the Detroit Medical Center where he was the administrative chief his final year.

After residency, Dr. McIntosh joined the staff at Corewell Hospital-Troy where he does the majority of his surgery. While at Troy, Dr. McIntosh has held many leadership positions including Member-at-Large to the Troy Medical Executive Committee and Director of the Division of General Surgery. He has also served on the Executive Board of United Physicians and the Cancer Clinical Operations Board for Corewell Health. He presently is the Chief of Surgical Services at Corewell Hospital-Troy. Dr. McIntosh is Board-Certified in General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He serves as Co-Chair of the Corporate Robotics Committee and is a Board member of the Beaumont Robotics Institute.

Dr. McIntosh is one of 15 General Surgeons across the nation to receive the designation of “Epicenter Surgeon” from Intuitive Surgical, signifying best-in-class for robotic surgery. He has served as a national key opinion leader for not only Intuitive but also BD/Bard and Covidien/Medtronic. In that role, he consults regarding new technology and teaches surgeons from across the country. Dr. McIntosh has authored papers on multiple aspects of surgery. He maintains academic appointments at Wayne State University School of Medicine and the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine. His peers selected him as a "Top Doc" in Hour magazine numerous times.

As a clinician, Dr. McIntosh's interests include GI oncology where he serves as the Director of the GI Oncology Multidisciplinary Clinic, complex abdominal wall reconstruction, biliary surgery, and robotic surgery.

Beyond surgery, he is an avid skier and plays a mediocre round of golf.
